REHTI & Rize Gaming Qualify for ConnectionLAN

Yesterday marked the first qualifiers for the NON-BYOC CS:GO tournament for ConnectionLAN in Seinäjoki.

The qualifier which was hosted by CS:GO Finland, saw 40 teams in attendence, each hoping to secure their slot in Seinäjoki. With well known names in the scene including sLowi, reVicer, Kipsik and others turning out in their various teams, it was sure to be a close fought and interesting qualifier.

The top half of the bracket hosted KIPSIk’s new ‘z’ team who recently got to the semi finals of King of Nordic, Rynnäkköviikset , Team Viral and eventual qualifiers REHTI who have been catching the eyes of many with their recent rise in the ranks within Finland.

REHTI were without their talented AWPer, Jamppi for this qualifier due to other commitments but the young Finns were given the help of experienced RCTIC and ex-Conquer loanee McDuck who stood in for the team as RCTIC did not play in the qualifier. REHTI battled their way though the bracket taking down the likes of Viral 16-9 and produced an extremely strong performance against ‘z’ which seen the youngsters take the match 16-4. This sealed the deal for REHTI as they book their place in the event for early October.

On the other side of the bracket it was again the same story of a close battle between some interesting teams. This side of the bracket hosted the likes of Paranoia with sLowi, Rize Gaming and young NeSA surprisers SkitLite Academy.

Early performances looked good for both Paranoia and Rize Gaming as they both took their games convincingly, 16-1 and 16-4 respectively. The teams continued their way through the bracket and eventually met in the semi-final which meant the winner secured their spot at ConnectionLAN.

This match turned out to be the most exciting game of the qualfiers with it being neck and neck for most of the match. There were only small margains in most of the rounds with these two evenly matched teams wanting the qualification spot. In the end Rize Gaming managed to take the game with an impressive 16-14 scoreline. A great debut for them in their new organisation.

ConnectionLAN are yet to announce any of the invited teams to the event with speculation of teams like VITALIS and iGame already on the team sheet.

A huge congratulations to both REHTI and Rize Gaming on their qualification and best of luck at the event.

The second round of qualifying will take place on Saturday the 9th of September.
